The Way of the Storyteller

Be Original, Be Meaningful, Be Compelling

Tell Stories for

Clarity, Connection, Communication & Culture

A foundational three or six month coaching program for

women leaders, experts and creators,

to help you communicate with presence and heart,

by learning to tell your stories.

If you communicate with people, you’ll want to make them care about what you say. You’ll want to influence and inspire them to act, and you’ll want to connect with them so they trust you.

The problem is that bland and boring language has become the corporate norm; wearing a professional mask, allowing disengaged, emotionless, cerebral speak to dominate, has an effect not just on our impact, or lack of it, but on who we are as people, and how we relate to each other.

Our communications become disconnected, from ourselves and from those we are seeking to influence. We use our mind but no heart, words but no story.

We become voiceless, scared and frustrated. We are so layered with should and oughts, roles and expectations, we can’t find a way to speak authentically.

Story makes us whole, story is the balance to the intellectualisation of life; story is heart, and body, history and experience. Story takes courage and commitment but story gives far more than it takes.

Story allows us to hear ourselves and each other. It enables us to deliberately and consciously craft our history, make sense of it and and share it in the way that moves, inspires and helps others.

The Story Ground Foundational Story Coaching program

This program is designed to support you from not knowing how to get started, to crafting and telling, with ease and pleasure, your signature story, and other stories that are useful and appealing to you in your purpose. It is designed to embed the skills and practice and thinking of the storyteller.

In this three or six month program I support you all the way. You receive:

  • Two x 75 minute coaching sessions each month

  • Online recorded training videos

  • Writing worksheets and exercises

  • Email support throughout the program.

  • Feedback in each session on up to 1500 words or ten minutes audio sent before the session

The program works at your pace, taking you through the five stages of:

  1. Understanding Story, its power as a right brain, imaginative way of thinking, and the practical how of oral storytelling.

  2. Exploring your history and how to find and choose the right story to work with.

  3. Rumbling with your history, exploring and shaping, crafting and colouring the story, in between reflecting, working with, and landing on the meaning of the story, and how it connects with your bigger purpose - whether you need to give a presentation, host events for others to share their stories, run a project, open an exhibition or speak at an event or family function.

  4. Performance skills - practising, dramatic expression, timing, audience feedback, confidence.

  5. Rinse and repeat. Creating a regular practice to continue learning, telling, developing. Beginning to build a story repertoire, de-breifing after telling events, working on new stories.

It’s all about your story, your goals and your meaning and message. Working with Kate Lawrence as a story coach will enable you understand story, develop story skills, think through the logic and emotional aspects of your speaking, explore your stories, your values and your message, and enable you to be bring your best self to the task.

I have put together my twenty-five plus years experience in law, community engagement, facilitation, coaching, speaking and of course storytelling, as well as my own journey of personal development…into the Story Ground Foundational Story Coaching program.

It absolutely offers you my best, in individual support and structured learning, to transform your storytelling, your communication and your speaking and you. It is designed to make you a storyteller.

The truth is that the most important work you will do with me is to gain insight, to shift your perspective, to see yourself, your story and your life in a new way, a way that taps into a universal, that reveals who you are, what you believe and why, and that makes you relatable, authentic and compelling.

Insight doesn’t happen overnight, it requires reflection, questioning, exploration and a sounding board. This is why I work with people on meaning making, and the art and craft of storytelling; success requires exploration and learning in both areas.

So if this sounds like something you need to make your communications and relationships thrive, book a 20 minute Curiosity Call appointment. We’ll talk through your purpose and problem, and get really clear on the direction you need to go, and if it feels right..

I’ll create a customised program plan and we’ll get to work.

Telling stories develops:

  • Trust and Connection

  • Confidence

  • Emotional Expression

  • Make Meaning

  • Captivate Attention

  • Legacy

If you keep going the way you have been, you will continue to deliver dry, abstract and forgettable talks and workshops and meetings, brittle and one dimensional content and delivery, little or no impact, have no fun in what you deliver, no character or drama or performance and very little imagination.

If you keep going the way you have been, your speaking will become a chore, when it could be an act of leadership and creativity.

If you commit to the Story Ground Foundational Story Coaching Program, you’ll go from frustrated, stuck, scared and self doubting, to feeling at ease, confident, growing, creative, enjoying speaking and having an impact.  In other words, you’ll become a storyteller.
