Episode 7 - The Trough

Gisborne resident Melvyn, has been busking at Woodend Coles while composing about Percy Grainger, Judy Brown shares her poem, and we hear why equality is better for everyone. Ainslie tells us about school of the net, Vicki’s house is clean and Mother’s Day carries a weighty history. And of course seven little Australian’s are in strife.
The music that is played in Melvyn’s interview was created by Melvyn. It is improvised from a deep meditative state: It is called In the Depths of Night, because that was when he created it, in his home in Gisborne, where he has a recording studio/living-room. There is a wonderful stillness here, late at night and in the early hours of the morning. That stillness is magical.
